Step-by-Step Guide to Connect Your Instagram Account

Step 1: Open the App

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Apps and select Shoppable Insta Feed and UGC.

Step 2: Log in to Instagram

Please ensure to grant all permissions on login for the app to work properly.

  • I have an Instagram Personal account. Why am I asked to upgrade to a Creator or Business?

    • On Sept 4 2024, Instagram has chosen to discontinue its Basic Display API (see their annoucement here). Working with third-party apps is now only possible for Business and Creator accounts. Any app that tells you otherwise relies on unofficial APIs and must be avoided for the security of your account.

    • This upgrade is entirely free and done in seconds, just follow the steps.

  • Logging in with Meta Business Manager or Facebook Page?

    • If you want to use an Instagram account you manage though a Meta Business Manager or a Facebook Page, click Connect with Facebook

    • Your Facebook account must have been granted sufficient rights

    • Please ensure to grant all permissions on login for the app to work properly

Potential Issues and Solutions

Issue 1: Instagram Account Not Connecting

  • Solution: Ensure that you are entering the correct Instagram credentials. Double-check your username and password.

  • Solution: Verify that your Instagram account is active and not restricted. If your account is temporarily locked, resolve any issues with Instagram first.

  • Solution: Check your internet connection and try again. Sometimes a poor connection can cause issues with the login process.

Issue 2: Authorization Failed

  • Solution: Ensure you have granted all necessary permissions for the app to access your Instagram account. If you declined any permissions, go back and reauthorize the app with full permissions.

  • Solution: Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try to connect again.

Issue 3: Instagram Feed Not Displaying

  • Solution: Confirm that your Instagram account is set to public. Private accounts cannot display feeds through the app.

  • Solution: Make sure you have selected the correct Instagram account if you manage multiple accounts.
